The Druk Path Trek is a popular 5–6 day moderate trek in Bhutan covering ~54 km between Paro and Thimphu. It features stunning Himalayan views, high-altitude lakes, and rhododendron forests, typically reaching altitudes up to 4,235m (Labana Pass). Best suited for beginners to intermediate hikers, it runs between 2,500m and 4,200m+.

Day-wise Itinerary

1 – Arrival in Paro(2,280m)
  • Arrive at the Paro international airport

2 – Paro Sightseeing & Acclimatization

3 – Paro – Jela Dzong – Jachulakha

  • Camp: Jangchulakha (3,780m)
4 – Jangchulakha – Jimilang Tsho

  • gentle ascent along ridges with view of Jomolhari on clear days
  • descend to the stunning Jimilang Tsho (lake), known for Trout
  • camp: Jimilang Tsho (3880 m)
5 – Jimilang Tsho – Simkotra Tsho
  • Trek: 4 – 5 hours
  • Walk past dwarf rhododendrons and alpine meadows
  • Cross small ridges and valleys
  • Camp near Simkotra Tsho, a quieter alpine lake
  • Camp: Simkotra Tsho (4110m)
6 – Simkotra Tsho – Phajodhing
  • Trek: 5-6 hours (longest day)
  • Cross labana La Pass (4300m)
  • Panoramic views of the Himalayas
  • Steep descent through forests  to monasteries of Phajodhing
  • Camp : Phajodhing (3600m)
7 – Phajodhing – Thimphu
  • Trek : 3-4 hours downhill
  • Descend to motithang / Dechencholing

8 – Thimphu sightseeing & departure
